While festival attendees and organizer alike are hoping that COVID-19 will be in our past at festival time we still need to plan for everyone’s safety. After two years of almost no festivals, party goers are keener than ever to dance in a field, share arts and music again. Everyone attending an event in 2022 needs to play a part in keeping each other safe and minimizing the risks from COVID-19.
You should feel confident that it is now considered safe for most festivals to go ahead, but we all have our part to play. The information on this page reflects information for attendance the Independence Pop Festival should COVID-19 still be causing restrictions during the period the festival takes place.
Vaccination
It is highly recommended that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend our festival. That said, one of the best ways to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 is to have two doses of the vaccination if you are willing and able. All adults in the have been offered their first dose of the vaccine and second doses in the US. If you have not yet been vaccinated and wish to be contact your health provider, pharmacy, or visit https://covidvaccine.oregon.gov/
Self-Isolating and Quarantine
If you feel sick or have any symptoms of COVID-19, you should NOT attend the Independence Pop Festival. If you are self-isolating or quarantining during Independence Pop Festival, you should also stay home and NOT attend. We know that may be disappointing to you, but you can still get into the spirit of Art Fair by following us on social media and our website, and you’ll be doing your part to help keep our community safe.
Regular COVID Testing
In order to help stop the spread of COVID-19, it is sensible for everyone to be regularly testing themselves, especially if you are attending a festival and when you return home. Whenever you do a test, make sure there is a record of the test and don't leave it til the last minute when there may be lots of people ordering them!
COVID-19 Certification
Our festival will require a COVID-19 certification process as a condition of entry. This means we will ask you to prove your COVID-19 status with one of the following:
proof of full COVID-19 vaccination both doses received at least 14 days before your arrival;
proof of a negative COVID-19 Test taken within 48 hours of your arrival;
And you will be asked for a photo ID to verify that you are, in fact, the person shown on the proof of vaccination or testing. For those who wish to expedite this process we suggest that you use the free digital vaccine card offered by CLEAR, which for the festival verifies your vaccinations and your ID. It is available at https://clearme.com/enroll.
Masks
While it may not be mandatory to wear a mask in most situations at the festival. There are some circumstances in which you would still be required to wear a mask, for example if you attend the medical tent. For this reason, you should bring one along and keep it with you just in case. Wearing a mask is one way that we can help stop the spread of COVID-19. If you feel comfortable it is a good idea to wear one in situations where you are in close proximity to other people, for example when standing in a large crowd or queueing for entry. Many people will still feel more comfortable wearing masks and this should be welcomed and respected.
